Enterprises for 2021”

With the advent of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC and further implementation of the “CPC History Learning and Education” campaign, the Party Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) ceremoniously released the “List of the First Exemplary Models of Key State-owned Enterprises for 2021” on June 24. Two collectives (including Longyuan Power South Africa De Aar Wind Power Project Management Team and CASC Long March 5 Development Team) and three individuals (including Yang Zongli from China Three Gorges Corporation, Xiao Mingqing from China Railway Construction Corporation, and Qiu Jun from China National Chemical Engineering) were honored “Exemplary Models of Key State-owned Enterprises”. Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of SASAC Hao Peng and Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of SASAC Tan Zuojun met with representatives of the Exemplary Models and responsible comrades of the party committees (party leading groups) of relevant key state-owned enterprises. Tan Zuojun attended the release ceremony, at which he conferred “Exemplary Models of Key State-owned Enterprises” honorary certificate upon award-winning individuals and collectives on behalf of the Party Committee of the SASAC. This ceremony was also attended by Bian Baochi, leader of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team of the Group Corporation, and Guo Aijun, member of the CPC Longyuan Power Corporate Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Longyuan Power.

According to Hao Peng, key state-owned enterprises, reputed as the most trustworthy force of the CPC and the country and regarded as the pillars of a great power and the national economy, unswervingly abide by the party’s instructions and requirements. In different historical periods there emerged a lot of heroes and models, giving rise to a series of advanced spirits, which inspired a vast number of cadres and employees in key state-owned enterprises to make resplendent achievements one after another. That deserves to be remembered for ever. Hao stressed that we should bring into full play advanced models’ exemplary and guiding role to encourage a vast number of cadres and employees in key state-owned enterprises to hold true to the original aspiration and bear firmly in mind the mission. In this way, we can quicken the pace to make state-owned capitals and enterprises stronger, better, and bigger, push ahead with the high-quality development, and strive to compose a new chapter for development, reform, and supervision of key state-owned enterprises and building of the CPC. Let’s celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC with excellent performances and make more contributions to the building of a modern socialist country in all respects and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

At the Release Ceremony, the host played a VCR on deeds of the Management Team of Longyuan Power South Africa De Aar Wind Power Project, as well as read out the award speech: “Those figures chase the wind in other lands, making the brightness accessible and light up thousands of households. Those white wind turbines in unceasing operation keep on generating green power and assist in the development. Amid aid to education, dream building, combat against pandemic, and public welfare, the hands and hearts come together, and the dreams are closely linked. It is you that become the exemplary role for cooperation of BRICS countries in energy and strike up the new movement for shared future along the Belt & Road”. In the interview with General Manager of Longyuan Power South Africa Wei Chen, who still resided in the remote South Africa, Wei noted that although the COVID-19 pandemic was still serious in South Africa, employees of Longyuan Power South Africa still lived a peaceful and healthy life thanks to solicitudes and directions from SASAC and the Group Corporation, and the project was free of the influence of the pandemic and posted favorable performance in production and operation. In addition, the Management Team actively gave supports to Chinese Embassy in South Africa, as well as called on local Chinese enterprises to help South African government and people fight the pandemic and to cultivate Chinese enterprises’ image of assuming responsibilities and obligations.

In 2009, the Management Team of Longyuan Power South Africa De Aar Wind Power Project arrived in the “Rainbow Nation”, where it insisted on the “Extensive Consultation, Joint Contribution, Shared Benefits” principle and worked with local government, copartners, and residents to jointly develop green energy. Thanks to eight years of preparation and construction, the Management Team, with domestically manufactured 1.5MW wind turbine from United Power and experience in construction and operation of wind power projects, vowed to build quality project at high standard. As a result, it completed the South Africa’s largest wind power project in service, which is also Chinese power generation enterprises’ first Africa-based wind power project integrating investment, construction, and operation. Each year, the project supplies steady clean power of about 760 million KWH for local people, satisfies 300,000 households of residents’ demands for electricity, and greatly alleviates local shortage in energy. Annual generating capacity of the wind farm project is equivalent to saving of standard coals by 215,800 tons and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 619,900 tons, which will boost South Africa energy industry’s clean and low-carbon development.

Besides, the Project set up special community fund to carry out precise assistance and support and assist in development of local communities, for example, the Project provided free medical services for local children, women, and seniors, and launched the education campaign titled “Aid to Education, Building Dream, Cultivation of Talents”. With outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa in 2020, the Management Team took the initiative to meet the local needs, as well as adopted multiple measures (including money and stuff contribution) to assist in local pandemic prevention and control. Particularly, the Management Team arranged the Company’s professional medical service coach to serve local COVID-19 detection and screening free of charge. As at the middle of June 2021, the medical service coach had provided nearly 50,000 person-times of free medical services. To fulfill the “Belt & Road” initiative, the Management Team of Longyuan Power South Africa De Aar Wind Power Project has discovered a feasible path with its practices, supported regional and global environmental protections with its pragmatic actions, contributed Chinese wisdom and Chinese power to building of a sound global eco-environment, as well as set up a bridge of friendship between Chinese people and South African people.
